UNIFEM and the ICG in coordination with the Government of Goa organized GOA STATE CONVENTION ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN from 24-26 Sept, 07. The Convention was inaugurated by Mr. J P Singh – Chief Secretary of Goa in presence of Ms. Chandni Joshi, Regional Programme Director, UNIFEM; Mr. UK Worah, Secretary Health and Power; and Mr. T.S. Sawant, Director, Dept. of Women & Child Development at NIO Cardium. Hon. Chief Minister of Goa Shri. Pratapsingh Rane due to his official visit to Nainital sent the speech for the Convention.
ICG, for the first time organised the inauguration of such a Convention outside ICG. The inauguration was attended by over 600 people from all over Goa while the Convention meetings were held at ICG from 24th to 26th September 2006.
