Synopsis: Most consumers in India are taken for a big ride . Even educated consumers are ignorant of how some companies and traders shortchange them, for which they not just lose money , but sometimes even pay in terms of health . Countries like USA, UK, Germany, even Hong Kong, are far ahead of India in ensuring that their citizens get good value for money .
Mr Vieira will give examples of misleading and false advertising, of deceptive packaging, of gross adulteration of food products; and follow this up with an interactive session of what citizens can do, to protect themselves , rather than just waiting for the Government to protect them.
