ICG 2020s Development Dialogue invites eminent personalities from around the world to share their views on reshaping the new world in the decade of 2020s.

The International Centre Goa invites you to the 5th edition of ICG 2020s Development Dialogue featuring Mr. Harish Salve, Queen’s Counsel for the Courts of England and Wales and Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, a former Solicitor General of India and Padma Bhushan awardee.

Mr. Salve will be in conversation with Mr. Dattaraj Salgaocar, Vice-President-ICG on a wide range of topics around “The Constitution of India and the Rule of Law.” The discussion will cover larger issues such as the nature and evolution of the Indian Constitution, specific issues such as Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and recent events including Supreme Court cases.

Mr. Harish Salve was formerly Solicitor General of India (1999-2002) and is a Senior Advocate at the Indian Bar (1992), practicing largely in the Supreme Court of India. He famously fought the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). In January 2020, he was appointed as a Queen’s Counsel for the Courts of England and Wales. Mr. Salve began his legal career in 1980 at J. B. Dadachandji & Co., first as an intern, and later as a full-time lawyer. During this time, he assisted Nani Palkhivala in the Minerva Mills Case. He was later designated a Senior Counsel by the Delhi High Court. Some of his notable involvements include Vodafone Tax Dispute, First Anti-Dumping case in the Supreme Court of India and the Aarushi-Hemraj Double Murder case. In 2017,India Today ranked him 43rd in a list of India’s 50 Most Powerful People. Mr. Salve was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2015.
