His other poetry volumes include Morning Light (2016); Personal Effects (2015); Living Room: Poems (2014); and Creatures Great and Small (2014). He has also edited Ferry Crossing: Short Stories from Goa (1998); and Goa Travels: Being the Accounts of Travellers from the 16th to the 21st Century (2014). His poems have been translated into Finnish, German, Italian, Marathi, and Slovenian. Shetty has been a Homi Bhabha Fellow and Senior Sahitya Akademi Fellow.
The workshop will examine trends and techniques in modern poetry and the short story, illustrated by works of successful writers in both the genres. Before the actual workshop, a selection of stories and poems from India and the West will be sent by email to all the participants for detailed discussion and assessment during the workshop. An attempt will be made during the workshop to demystify the world of writing and writers and explain how rewarding the art of poetry and short story writing can be. Time permitting, the workshop would ask participants to work on an on-the-spot writing exercise. Apart from evaluating the work of participants, the workshop will also offer tips on possible publication outlets in India and abroad. The idea behind the workshop is to raise the benchmarks of evaluating modern poetry and fiction and to encourage participants to embrace original ideas and pursue them to creative fulfilment.
