Dr Fraddry D’Souza is working as a Fellow at TERI and currently is heading the TERI- Goa Regional office. He is perusing his interests in coastal resources management, water and pollution, biocontamination and biodiversity assessment. He has worked at National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) as JRF and CSIR-SRF and completed his
doctorate.He was awarded an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for the “Joint European Fresh and Coastal Water Management Programme” at Portugal and Spain Universities. He has also worked as scientist at TNO Science and Industry, the Netherlands. He has published more than 20 research papers in different national and international Journals.
World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22nd of March by the people all across the world. The day was established to be celebrated as an annual event in the year 1993 by the decision of the United Nations General Assembly to increase awareness among the people about the importance, need and conservation of water. . The theme for World Water Day 2018 is ‘Nature for Water’ – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century. Damaged ecosystems affect the quantity and quality of water available for human consumption. Today, 2.1 billion people live without safe drinking water at home; affecting their health, education
and livelihoods. Sustainable Development Goal commits the world to ensure that everyone has access to safe water by 2030, and includes targets on protecting the natural environment and reducing pollution. The Institution of Engineers (India), Goa State Centre proposes to celebrate World Water Day 2018 on the said theme.
